Programs Overview

General overview of our Programs

We offer a range of programs designed to educate and empower young people and adults.

Our programs combine lived experience with psychological expertise, ensuring that every service is both relatable and evidence-based. As a registered not-for-profit organisation, Rise & Thrive Co. removes financial barriers, making trauma recovery and mental health support accessible to everyone in our community.

Our Key Initiatives Include:

  • Educational Workshops: Interactive sessions in schools and community settings that promote emotional wellbeing, healthy relationships, and early intervention strategies.
  • Support Groups: Safe, inclusive spaces where individuals can share experiences, build connections, and strengthen their resilience through peer support.
  • Counselling Services: Professional, trauma-informed counselling designed to support individuals navigating trauma, mental health challenges, and personal growth.
  • Awareness Campaigns: Community initiatives that build understanding of trauma, break down stigma, and encourage open conversations about healing and resilience

Our current Programs and initiatives

No Filters Needed

Rise & Thrive Co.’s “No Filters Needed” program is designed to help students in Years 7–9 better understand social anxiety, mental health challenges, feelings of inadequacy, and the pressures of everyday issues that can often feel overwhelming. Through structured activities, guided discussions, workbook activities, and engaging physical sessions, students are equipped with practical tools to enhance self-awareness, strengthen self-confidence, and build positive peer relationships.

Included in the program are activities such as basketball, Tug-of-War, and outdoor experiences that encourage teamwork, resilience, and authentic connection. These dynamic settings provide opportunities for students to apply new skills, overcome challenges, and develop trust among peers — vital steps in supporting emotional well-being and reducing social anxiety.

“Bounce Back” Youth and Adolescent Programs

Rise & Thrive Co.’s Bounce Back programs are designed to be engaging, empowering, and deeply supportive. Delivered in small groups, each program ensures personalised attention and a safe environment where participants can heal, grow, and reconnect.

Developed, tested, and continuously refined over the past six years, Bounce Back operates across two age groups: Adolescents (13–17 years) and (18–23 years).

This five-week initiative integrates mental health support with physical activity — using sport as a tool for healing and connection. Combining Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF-CBT) and Positive Psychology, the program provides a holistic framework for recovery and resilience building.

Program Structure:

  • Small group sizes (minimum 5, maximum 10 participants)
  • Weekly group workshops (in-person, using sport as the core medium)
  • Weekly one-on-one counselling sessions with a qualified practitioner

Adult Trauma Recovery “Rise” Program (Ages 24+)

The Rise Program is designed for adults ready to reclaim control of their lives and heal from the lasting impacts of trauma. Over five transformative weeks, participants are supported in a safe and nurturing environment that encourages personal insight, emotional regulation, and meaningful growth.

Grounded in trauma-informed practice, the program integrates therapeutic techniques, reflective exercises, and peer connection to guide participants toward healing, resilience, and self-empowerment.

Program Structure:

  • Duration: 5 weeks
  • Group Size: 5 to 10 participants
  • Format: Weekly group workshops available in person or via Zoom, individual check-ins with a counsellor, and guided homework activities designed to apply new skills and reinforce progress between sessions.

“Generations Connect” Program

Our Generations Connect Program, recently delivered in partnership with Noosa Seniors, focuses on bridging the gap between generations.

This program creates a safe and supportive space for both young people and older adults to come together, share experiences, and engage in meaningful conversations.

Through guided discussions and connection-based activities, participants were able to:

  • Feel seen, heard, and valued
  • Build understanding and empathy across age groups
  • Break down long-standing barriers and stigmas
  • Engage in open, respectful conversations
  • Strengthen community connection

The outcomes highlighted the power of connection in healing, understanding, and creating stronger, more supportive communities.

Lived Experience Live Talks

Our Lived Experience Live Talks are powerful, real-life storytelling sessions designed to create awareness, connection, and change.

These talks are grounded in lived experience, sharing real journeys of overcoming domestic and family violence, trauma, adversity, mental health and personal challenges. They are delivered in a raw, honest, and deeply impactful way, allowing audiences to connect, reflect, and better understand the realities many individuals face.

These sessions are designed for schools, community groups, organisations, and events, with a focus on:

  • Breaking down stigma around trauma and mental health
  • Encouraging open, non-judgemental conversations
  • Helping individuals feel seen, heard, and less alone
  • Educating communities on early warning signs and patterns
  • Inspiring change through vulnerability, strength, and resilience

Each talk creates a safe space for reflection and learning, while empowering individuals and communities to shift perspectives and take meaningful action.

Expected Outcomes of Programs

Rise & Thrive Co.’s programs demonstrate measurable, long-term improvements in mental health, confidence, and emotional regulation among participants. Drawing from the success of the No Filters Needed program, which supported 152 students across four Sunshine Coast high schools in 2025, participants experienced significant growth across multiple well-being indicators.

Key impacts observed include:

  • Reduced Anxiety: 77% of participants reported stronger emotional regulation and decreased anxiety levels.
  • Increased Confidence: Average confidence scores rose from 4.9/10 to 7.3/10, with 85% feeling more self-assured.
  • Improved Coping Strategies: 84% of participants adopted at least one positive coping strategy, compared to just 19% at baseline.
  • Cognitive Growth: Active cognitive reframing increased from 13% to 66%, demonstrating improved emotional processing.
  • Enhanced Peer Connection: Every cohort showed stronger social engagement and teamwork, with Year 8 and 9 students showing the most improvement.
  • Sustained Outcomes: At three-month follow-up, students continued using learned tools, demonstrated improved attendance, better communication, and reduced behavioural incidents

These outcomes affirm the effectiveness of Rise & Thrive Co.’s trauma-informed, early-intervention model in strengthening resilience and promoting positive mental health trajectories. By addressing emotional distress before it escalates, our programs actively break cycles of disengagement, intergenerational trauma, and community harm — creating a foundation for stronger, safer, and more connected lives.
